Dustbowl!

Wow! Saturday was a blast. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day, wonderful vendors, talented singers and bands, generous sponsors and enthusiastic shoppers.

I'm so glad my mom, dad, brother and dear friend Bettye made it up from McAlester. A BIG "thanks!" to my AMAZING 2nd mother, Cathy for bringing us lunch, watching my booth and being awesome!

Booths on Buchanan Street:

My honey, Tyler, big bub Jeff, little bro Adam:
The Smith's: Jake, Sarah and little cutie Sebastian:Yusuf of Etudaiye Pottery Studio:
Jenny, Jan (not pictured) and Jackson surprised me! First time to meet the little guy.
Cora Mae Green rocking one of my puff headbands:

I could have purchased something from every single booth, but had to restrain myself.
Here's what I found:
Pear zip up travel bag from Rose Knits, blue wood print zip pouch from Cut out and Collect, mustad and cream with tool striped head band and black with green stone necklace from fellow Dustbowl collaborator, Dana Joy Fisher from her new Pistachio line.
Can't wait for next time!

Casie and Jared's Wedding

What a perfect day for a wedding! 10:00 AM, 75 degrees,
soft morning light and the beauty of nature.

Casie went with a color palette of sage green, light pink, white and brown. We used white daisy mums on the majority of the tables in painted green pots tied with pink and brown damask ribbon. The bottom of the pots had "wreaths" of white hydrangea blossoms. Pink and white gerbera daisies, pink roses and white stock were used in the bouquets and she wore white mini gerberas in her hair.

The happy couple at the rehearsal dinner. Casie had the best idea for a pie stand. In the picture the peach pie has been devoured (it was sooo good!) but she flipped the flower pot over and the pie pan fit inside the flower pot saucer perfectly!
A view of the tables. The beautiful bride with her brothers.
They served brunch after the ceremony complete with omelets made to order and mimosas.
The cake was delicious. They couldn't have picked a better day.
Congratulations to Casie and Jared!

Emily and Austin's Reception Flowers

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Austin Brewer! The ceremony was so beautiful and what a fun reception! We were busy all of Saturday getting the reception set up that we almost didn't make it to the church on time. Tyler had to get dressed in the church parking lot. I'm no whiz with the camera but here are some shots of the centerpieces.

It was an honor to work with such a sweet and creative bride. Hope you two had a wonderful time on you honeymoon!

Chicagoland

Emily and Austin's wedding was such a blast! Picture post to come soon of the flora but until then...a run down of our whirlwind trip to the Windy City!

In the car on the way to Chicago we saw lots and lots of corn fields...
On Monday we ventured out with Wes Wilson and found the house from Home Alone...

and the Baha'i Temple...
That night we enjoyed some backyard grilling with the Grissom's and Wes. Their little girl Stella is just about the cutest girl in the world. She kept on calling Tyler and I "huthkee's". She's a doll and it was so nice to spend time with Brandon and Beki.

Tuesday was an eventful day as well.
Went to Oak Park to see some of Frank Lloyd Wright's homes.
The Arthur Heurtley House:Tyler in front of Frank Lloyd Wright's Home and Studio:Did a little shopping and then headed over to Wes Imel's apartment. Anna made us some delicious Golabki and the boys headed off to the Phish show. We opted out of being surrounded by crazy hippies and instead, went for a bike ride out to Montrose Harbor. What a great view of the skyline!

Wednesday was full of culture. Spent a good portion of the day at the Art Institute of Chicago. Covered everything from van Gogh...
to mid-century modern furniture...From Monet...to Andy Warhol...
We walked around beautiful gardens.
and even saw a dinosaur!
Millennium Park with Anna and Wes.
Had a little snack and beverage and enjoyed the Grant Park Orchestra perform some Italian variations. We ended the night by heading over to Oklahoma native Rick Bayless' restaurant, Frontera Grill, for the best meal of my life. A great trip indeed. Great friends, fun, food and festivities.Thankful for some nice talking time in the car with my honey. Oh, and he let me stop here on the way home...

Slow July but August is going to be crazy!

My postings for July were few and far between.
The run down...
Celebrated the 4th with some my favorite people:

Consumed lots of great food:

Celebrated the birth of Miss Cora Mae Green! Oh she is a beauty! Congrats to Courtney and Rob!

Got to see Wanda Jackson at Andrews park for my birthday

Celebrated birthdays with Tyler's family. Wish I had pictures. There were a lot of summer birthdays to be celebrated!

Wes and Anna came for a short visit. They got us to try some really disgusting Ginger Ale. It set me nose on fire! Happy we get to see them again soon!

August is shaping up to be a doozy so plenty of posts in the future.
This weekend I have the honor of doing the flowers for the wedding of my sweet friend Emily Byrd. She'll be such a beautiful bride! Sunday Tyler and I are making a road trip to the beautiful town of Chicago to see some friends. A few days down the road Paul McCartney is heading to Tulsa and so are we! Our cousin Casie is getting hitched to the super cool Jared. More flower posts to come from that. To round-up the end of August, the first ever Dustbowl Arts Market. Woo wee!
