Nerdom

My husband is now an active contributor to my advances in nerdom.

The traditional first anniversary gift is paper so I found some really cool Frank Lloyd Wright and Banksy coffee table books for him. He on the other hand, went above and beyond the husband call of duty.

Tyler was a bit put out with me the week I read the Twilight Series. It was warranted. One night I stayed up so late reading with my back to the clock that when I heard his morning alarm go off at 6:15 A.M., I tried to act like I fell asleep reading. I'm no actress. He could totally tell I was still awake and was pretty frustrated.

So, I was totally surprised when he not only gave me a copy of Stephenie Meyer's, The Host

He also got us tickets for the 12:01 AM first showing of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince!

Bah! I can't believe it and I can't wait. He knows me so well!

I think this works better...

Now don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of yellow. It's my favorite color. I just think with our bedding, the room is a little overtly feminine. When we moved in last year, we should have taken more time to figure out what we wanted to do. The yellow wall was sort of a snap decision and turned out too matched. So I got with it one afternoon this week and changed it up.
Before...

and after....

It's a dark high shine grey.

Today was Oliver's turn to be featured. They are so weird. The minute they hear the camera, they come running. Inquisitive little guys.

When my mom came to visit and saw the colors we used throughout the house she pointed out that we had decorated our house to match our cats! It was a totally subconscious thing.

Have a happy Thursday!

The Face of Regret and Fabric Explosions

I think Toby is having feelings of remorse for eating the armchair...

Pathetic and so cute...

As far as working from home goes, I have found that I am most productive when all is organized. Today I am cleansing my fabric collection and dividing it out by project and size.

Here's how it's going...

Still have a ways to go...

Tomorrow will be a sewing day for sure. My inventory on Etsy is dwindling. Time to get busy and restock!

The Hunger Games

If you are looking for a great summer read, check out The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. My friend Erica suggested that I take it along on vacation. I couldn't put it down.

Last year I made the grave mistake of choosing 1776 for our summer read. No one save our then, newest member, read it. Oops. I'm sure it's a wonderful book, just not for light summer reading. I feel that I have now redeemed myself with The Hunger Games since everyone breezed through it in a couple of weeks! Can't wait for tonight.

Thank you Suzanne Collins. You saved me from being banned from selecting for book club.

Monday Monday...

Since one of my adorable, yet devilish cats has just caused further damage to my wing back chair, by way of chewing, today I wish for this rocking chair to sit in:

From Anthropologie...
Obviously the chair is a dream, unless they decide to mark it down 75% or 90% .

Have a happy Monday! Here's to Toby turning into a good cat.

Happenings Lately...

This summer is flying! (Although, technically it's still spring) Vacation in the Bahamas was so much fun!

The crazy outdoor lounge at the Viceroy in Miami...The "rug" is made from different colors and patterns of tile. What a great idea!

Orange Louis Ghost Chairs in the pool?

Our digs...So pretty!

Huge bromeliad's growing the the backyard. They had to be at least 10 feet across.

My husband the fish slayer.

Hanging out with the lovely Granna Gayle.

The Huskerson brothers getting ready to dive for conch.

Huskersons minus Jimmy Day. We missed him!

The whole gang!

It was such a fun trip! We re-celebrated Lee and Gayle's birthdays, celebrated Casie and Jared's engagement, snorkeled, ate good food, sea kayaked, had some quality hang out time and got to know people better, played some ladder ball, got a little tan, assembled a huge puzzle of NYC's Times Square, ate good food, played Banana Grams, watched some rainstorms roll in, read 3 books, ate good food...It was wonderful! I love my family!

Oh dang...we got a new logo and it's awesome!

Sethy McCarroll has done it again!
We are so excited.
Now we can start mailing out sponsorship packets and vendor applications!

Courtney's Baby Shower

Baby Green is almost here so we had to celebrate!

Green and yellow Martha Stewart fancy paper flowers from Michael's. (These were left over from our wedding but you can make your own here.)

We used green, yellow and blue scrap book paper and a craft punch to make the cupcake toppers. All you need is paper, a punch, hot glue and some toothpicks. Gina's cupcakes were delicious!

Momma-to-be looking oh so pretty in purple. We all agree she's a jewel tone girl.

Some interesting reactions to the name the baby food game. Vegetable medley and chicken were disgusting and to spare Courtney's baby those taste bud experiences, the hostesses found her a food processor. She and Rob and can steam and puree their little ones food.

Courtney gave each of the hostess one of these beautiful soaps. Isn't the packaging so pretty?
Oh how I wish I had her handwriting.

The cute little momma-to-be and her hostesses.

Since we met my freshman year, Court has been such a dear friend to me. I have treasured being witness to her falling in love with Rob, being her maid of honor and the way their relationship continues to grow. The Green's are a wonderful example of love and they will surely be blessed by the beautiful baby that soon will be born! We can't wait to meet the little green bean!
